MARTIN ZEMP
Martin Zemp is an artist with a flair for the unpredictable. The Lucerne native paints abstract, large-format artworks that explore the boundary between concrete form and free brushstrokes: sometimes impulsively, sometimes delicately. In passing, with an almost photographic memory, he collects impressions from his life: a brief glance, something unexpected, the play of light and shadow, the hint of a memory, the beauty of a blink of an eye. He condenses these snapshots into a reduced, minimalist and yet powerful visual language. His aim? To tease out the maximum of emotions. Zemp's artworks invite the viewer to pause, to allow themselves to be carried away by the variety of emotions and to explore for themselves where the artwork can lead - a space for their own thoughts, interpretations and possibilities. Just like Zemp's art itself.
Martin Zemp ist ein Künstler mit einem Gespür für das Unvorhersehbare. Der Luzerner malt abstrakte, grossformatige Werke, welche die Grenze zwischen konkreter Form und freier Pinselbewegungen neu ausloten – mal impulsiv, mal ganz zart. Im Vorübergehen, mit nahezu fotografischem Gedächtnis, sammelt er Eindrücke aus seinem Leben: ein kurzer Blick, etwas Unerwartetes, das Spiel von Licht und Schatten, der Hauch einer Erinnerung, die Schönheit eines Wimpernschlags. Diese Momentaufnahmen verdichtet er auf Leinwand zu einer reduzierten, minimalistischen und dennoch kraftvollen Bildsprache. Sein Ziel? Das Maximum an Emotionen herauskitzeln. So laden Zemps Werke den Betrachter ein, innezuhalten, sich von der Vielfalt der Emotionen tragen zu lassen und selbst zu erkunden, wohin das Bild führen kann – ein Raum für eigene Gedanke und Möglichkeiten.
